In February, my boyfriend and I decided it was finally time to update our kitchen--we were going with a total tear-out: floors, cabinets, sink, counters, light fixtures, and new appliances, all on a tight budget. I heard through friends about MC and Dead Level Home Repair, so I reached out and we discussed the contract, scope of project, and what he would handle with the remodel...plus what we'd need to sub-contract out for specialty stuff like gas lines.
We agreed on a budget and when the project would start....8am on Monday morning.
Like clock-work MC showed up for the first day on-time, and throughout the project managed his timely precisely, did exactly what he said he would, and was very accommodating to additional project requests I had during the remodel (like removing and installing an entirely new stairway banister).
Let me skip to the end of the story...our kitchen remodel was a smashing success!!
Here's what really stands out about MC and why I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again (in fact, we are hiring him again for our basement remodel):
- On-time, cleaned up after himself, and always communicated exactly what he was going to do, why, and what we could expect.
- Fantastic work--very professional and no sloppy short cuts.
- Accommodating to our requests and also giving us his advice.
- Fun as heck to have around.
- Worked fast but precisely. I appreciated that MC wasn't constantly re-doing his work and billing us for unnecessary stuff.
Overall, I'd recommend MC with no hesitations, for big or small projects because he knows what he's doing and doesn't try to 'fake it' on stuff he doesn't.
